Loukoumades or Honey Puffs or Greek Doughnuts

Serves: 4 Cooking Time: 20 minutes


  • 1 Package Dry Yeast
  • ½ cup of Warm Water
  • ½ Cup Scalded Milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Egg, Beaten Well
  • 2 ½ Cups All Purpose Flour
  • Oil for frying
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Nuts



Add scalded milk, sugar, salt and oil.


Add yeast mixture


Add egg and flour and mix. The consistency of the dough is thick and sticky.


Place mixture in warm area to let rise.


Heat oil in deep pan and drop a teaspoon at a time of dough in the oil until golden brown.


Place on paper towel to absorb the oil.


Pour honey and chopped walnut or any nuts that you prefer.


Tip: Use a light oil for frying they turn lighter. Tip: Dip spoon into oil before grabbing the dough.
